This weeks Project - New shower room with LED lighting!
Now 'Solihull Bathrooms' (Previously trading as BPMB)
This weeks project was spent refurbishing an en-suite shower room which involved removing the old tiles, plaster board, shower tray, toilet and wash basin.
In this photo I have removed the old suite and also the plaster board which was rotten through the shower tray leaking over a long period of time.
The tiles and boxing have been removed and will be replaced with new ones.
I have built a base using CLS timber for the new shower tray to sit on.
We will need an electric mains power source for the LED lighting to work. In the photo below, you can see that I have installed wiring for an independent single plug socket. The wiring is located inside the partition wall between the shower room and the bedroom. The LED lighting will be plugged in to the new socket and connected to a fuse spur which is located outside the shower room door. This enables the lights to be conveniently turned on and off.
In the video below, you can see how the LED lighting is installed.
I have re-plaster boarded all of the walls and started to first fit the LED lighting.
Now that all the shower room preparation is complete, I have started to tile the walls.
The walls have now been tiled and will be grouted using a complimentary ivory coloured grout. I have deliberately left the tiles off of the tops of the boxings so that I can gain easy access to install the LED lighting cables.
I have laid new floor tiles and the LED lighting has now been installed and working.
Now it's time to fit the new sink and toilet.
I have installed a very nice mirror wall cabinet with electric lighting. This compliments the LED lighting very well.
The shower room project is finally coming together and looking really nice. The new sink unit provides for underneath storage, which is very useful in a small en-suite shower room.
The ensite shower room is now fully functional. Project duration from start to finish = 6 days.
The finished shower room.
