Compact shower room installation from scratch!
I love a challenging project with varied tasks and this one has to be one of my favs!
I was approached by a local resident of Solihull who wanted to install a shower room within an unused section of his kitchen. The kitchen was quite large and so after surveying where the existing soil pipe was located, I was able to establish that the project was both feasible and achievable. The first step was to define a layout for the new shower room that would work well for my client and his family. I needed to create a compact shower room but also take in to account, accommodating a new space for a tumble dryer and washing machine within the kitchen. I did this by constructing the shower room walls in a staggered fashion to accommodate the appliances on the exterior wall of the new shower room. So, after putting pen to paper and discussing the proposed design with my client, I was then able to start construction. The video below shows in brief how I constructed the shower room and of course, the finished project. The entire project was completed by myself, which included, carpentry, dry lining, plastering, plumbing, tiling & brick laying. The electrics were carried out by a third party. The project successfully passed building regulation control and was signed off by our local council. Duration for this project was just over 5 weeks.
